NABERS Energy for new buildings

The NABERS Energy Commitment Agreement allows developers and building owners to promote and market excellent greenhouse performance of new and refurbished office buildings from the outset. The Commitment Agreement will state your commitment to design, build and commission the premises to a 4, 4.5 or 5 star level.

See the Resources page for all the relevant documentation for the Commitment Agreement process.

Developers who incorporate greenhouse performance into new buildings benefit from increased ability to attract and retain tenants who value good environmental performance. Considering energy efficiency from the outset also reduces base building energy costs over the life of the building in a market of rising energy costs.

Other benefits include:

  • Enhanced capital value for buildings with lower energy costs.

  • Ability to report accredited greenhouse performance levels to fund managers, property trusts, and financial advisers undertaking due diligence assessments prior to purchasing a building.

  • Build a reputation as an ethical developer with a capability to deliver greenhouse proficient projects.

  • Communicate and promote your accomplishment via a Government accredited trademark to employees, customers, shareholders and the public who are increasingly interested in environmental performance.

  • Engage your architect, engineers and builder in a design, construct and commissioning process that places a premium on actual measured performance. An independent third party will evaluate performance after 12 months of operational data is collected.

The Commitment Agreement will also help to engage your architect, engineers and builder in a design, construct and commissioning process that will increase the efficiency of the end product.

Call DECCW, the NABERS National Administrator, on 02 9995 5449 for further information and to discuss the Commitment Agreement process further.
