Energy Conservation Systems - Water Savings in City
Towers through Integrated Water Management Systems (funding:
$1,000,000)
Toilets,
showers, taps and leaks in high rise office blocks will be targeted for water
efficiency in this water management project developed by Energy Conservation
Systems.
The company plans to work with the building managers and tenants of
high water use office buildings, hotels and apartment blocks to introduce smart
metering systems to monitor and gauge use and replace inefficient fixtures with
water saving technology.
The project aims to save 25% of the water in the office buildings
targeted and will include an educational and promotional component.
Jones Lang LaSalle NSW Pty Ltd - Homebush Bay Recycled Water
connection - The Quad I & II (funding: $48,500)
Offices
in the Quad I and II buildings at Homebush Bay will be connected to the nearby
recycled water supply in this project proposed by Jones Lang LaSalle.
The work will involve connecting the existing plumbing in the two
buildings to the recycled water pipeline located nearby. The project will bring
the two office buildings at the Olympic Site in line with offices which already
use recycled water. The project will save 7 million litres of water a year.
EP&T Pty Ltd - Water efficiency upgrades in Colonial First
State Property's portfolio (funding: $950,000)
22
commercial buildings with a combined water use of two million litres a day will
be targeted for savings in this project from EP & T.
It takes a holistic approach to saving water in Colonial First
State Property's commercial building portfolio by integrating water efficiency
upgrades with metering, monitoring and reporting systems. The funding will pay
for the capital works and contribute to a water savings target of 25%. A total
of 211 million litres of water a year will be saved in the 22 buildings, located
in Sydney CBD, North Sydney and Parramatta.
Investa Property Group - Water Savings for Fire Protection
Systems (funding: $107,000)
Every
day in Australia, millions of litres of water go down the drain as the fire
protection industry meets its obligations under the Australian Standards to
maintain and test the fire protection systems.
The Investa Property Group owns and manages 16 commercial buildings
and proposes through this project to drastically reduce the water used in fire
protection tests. The company will use performance engineering solutions,
permissible under the Australian Standards although rarely used, to reduce the
testing frequency of the fire protection systems. The Fire Sprinkler System
control equipment at each of the 16 buildings will also be upgraded for improved
efficiency. This project will save 11 million litres of water a year.

AMP Henderson – Jessie Street Centre
Industry Superannuation Property Trust - Treated wastewater
project in new multi-storey office development
This
project is saving water at a new multi-storey office development in Casselden
Place/Lonsdale Street in the Melbourne CBD by using treated wastewater to flush
toilets instead of using fresh drinking water. If successful in the CBD, the
system will be used in buildings across Victoria.
Investa Property Group – Victorian property portfolio
savings
Appraisal
of Investa’s thirteen properties by savewater!™ efficiency service water
auditors suggested that the installation of recommended water efficiency
measures, ie flow control valves in the vanity basins, showers, sinks and
troughs, would potentially result in an estimated 32,438 kilolitres per year
reduction in or around 15% of total annual water use, save the Group $76,065 per
annum and provide a payback period of 19.7 months.
