About NABERS for offices

Your Path:  About NABERS for offices

NABERS is a voluntary environmental rating system for office premises.

NABERS is tailored for use by building owners, managers, and building occupants. Building owners and managers will be able to report on those aspects of the environmental performance of the building that are in their control, for example landlord energy use (lifts, air conditioning etc), water consumption etc. Building occupants will report on the environmental performance of the aspects of the building that they control (light and power in their tenancy, transport to and from the building etc)

Today, NABERS ratings for offices include NABERS Energy (previously ABGR), NABERS Water, NABERS Waste and NABERS Indoor Environment. Each of these tools has been designed to use the same methodology as the popular ABGR scheme, providing an environmental impact measures for environmentally responsible businesses.

Other elements are being developed to enable buildings to be rated on a range of measured operational impacts. This range of environmental indicators and the associated measurement techniques will be the subject of extensive research and deliberation, drawing on international and local expertise.  The remaining NABERS accredited rating elements are being progressively developed over time to ensure that each element is relevant, comprehensive and credible.  Further information on current developments is contained in this section of the website.

NABERS is a national initiative managed by the NSW Government.
